DBP would like to ask for your help with the sustainabilty section of the website.
The nature and speed of evolution of the sustainability section makes keeping up to date a difficult task.

Earlier this year, a group representing a wide spectrum of the UK Construction Industry came together in Cheshire to discuss how they could better provide good, practical ideas, guidance and tools for designers to comply with the ‘spirit’ of the CDM Regulations.
The group included companies and organisations who create the legislation, draw up guidance, enforce the Regulations, provide training and, of course, those who actually carry out design.
There were representatives from DIOHAS, Design Best Practice, Consultant’s Health & Safety Group, HSE, APS, SID, CIRIA, ECI, Buildoffsite, saferdesign, CIC, ACE, IStructE, RIBA, ICE, London Underground and Construction Skills.
The Engineering and Construction arm of AstraZeneca hosted and chaired the event.
A number of issues were identified including the fact that there was a need for more collaboration between those attempting to make the role of designers simpler.
The group was also keen to emphasise that good design ideas do not just offer good safety but very often improved cost, time, quality and even aesthetics.
Good design means good safety and good business.
The attendees at the event agreed to task a smaller group to gather together all the information available from each of the Groups.
Following this, they will look to reduce the overlap and make the information easy for designers to find and retrieve - possibly linked via just one web portal.
The overload of information available to designers at present is seen as a critical issue and this initial action would be a significant step forward to making designers’ jobs simpler.
DBP will update future developments of the group.
